Ponce Central District
Ponce Central District is the Fire Department’s busiest station, responding to over 100 calls per month, and is the dispatch for the 12 surrounding NCB stations. After the January 2020 earthquakes, the station lost grid-power for two weeks; using a 15kW generator, firefighters and paramedics were able to charge personal cell phones to coordinate emergency aid.
Ponce Central is Solar Responders’ largest system. Now whenever a natural disaster occurs, the whole Ponce Central district station will be able to coordinate mutual aid in conjunction with fire stations across the Southern Region.
